N. J. Dawood, "The Koran, translated with notes", Penguin Classics, Penguin Books, 625 Madison Avenue, NY 10022. ISBN 0 14 044.052 6.

This translation is unique in a couple of ways. It does not follow the standard order of chapters in the Mus_haf. I think that's not a good idea. Dawood's argument is that it makes for an easier to follow read for non-Muslims.

Another distinguished feature of this translation is that brother Dawood pays attention to the minutest details. For instance, he catches the conjugation of verbs and finds an English way to express its unique meaning.
