Quote:
{2:55} And [recall] when you said, "O Moses, we will never believe you until we see God outright"; so the thunderbolt took you while you were looking on.
{2:56} Then We revived you after your death that perhaps you would be grateful.
Such an excellent translation! I'd only change "grateful" to "thankful" which is closer to the Arabic word. So, I suggest,
{2:55} And [recall] when you said, "O Moses, we will never believe in you until we see God outright"; so the thunderbolt took you while you were looking [on].{2:56} Then We sent you off (resurrected you) after your death that perhaps you would thank.Quote:
{2:57} And We shaded you with clouds and sent down to you manna and quails, [saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you." And they wronged Us not - but they were [only] wronging themselves.
I always like to use modern English, so instead of saying "they wronged Us not," I'd rather say, "they did not wrong Us." So, I suggest,
{2:57} And We shaded you with clouds and sent down to you manna and quail, [saying], "Eat from the good of what We have provided you." And they did not wrong Us - but they have been to themselves wronging.
