Quote:
{2:40} O Children of Israel, remember My favor which I have bestowed upon you and fulfill My covenant [upon you] that I will fulfill your covenant [from Me], and be afraid of [only] Me.

The interjections "upon you" and "from Me" are a bit confusing. What the verse is referring to here is God's covenant with the Israelites. The verse is saying they must fulfill their obligation and in return God will fulfill His. I suggest,

{2:40} O Children of Israel, remember My favor which I have bestowed upon you and fulfill [your] pledge to Me; I [will then] fulfill My pledge to you, and [only] Me [you should] dread.

Quote:
{2:41} And believe in what I have sent down confirming that which is [already] with you, and be not the first to disbelieve in it. And do not exchange My signs for a small price, and fear [only] Me.

The last sentence is better translated, "and [only] Me [you should] watch out for." So, I suggest,

{2:41} And believe in what I have sent down confirming of what is with you, and do not be the first disbeliever in it! And do not purchase with My signs a small price, and [only] Me [you should] watch out for.

Quote:
{2:42} And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know [it].

An excellent translation!

Quote:
{2:43} And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience].

Translating "Zakah" is hard, so I see why the translators chose to transliterate it here. I discussed this in the "Words hard to translate" subforum and would use that here, i.e.,
{2:43} And establish prayer and give alms and bow with the bowing.
